I highly recommend a visit to the actual assassination site of Michael Collins in County Cork. It is a very solemn site to see the monument in person and reflect on the life of Michael and all the struggles he endured. When you visit you...More

This is a really important place to visit, and a "must" to respect the memory of the man, and the history of the country. But, what a pity that little clear detail is given of the event, what happened, who was where and who was...More

Good that this historic place is marked. Google maps would put you slightly off track on the last bit. Better signage would be an advantage.

Important site but little to do there. Just stop and take a few photos, savour the location and the national significance of what happened here. Best Collins sites are in Clonakilty and Lisavaird.

Finally managed to visit here. Michael Collins is a personal hero and I've read extensively on him. Won't go into the politics but very happy to get here as it is not well sign posted. Shame there is not a visitor centre but the monument...More

Felt a sense of history when here - you can’t help but feel it if you’re Irish. Some nice cards and notes present at the time at the base of the monument

Michael Collins is a remarkable historical character, and Ireland's history over the last century (both good and bad) has been shaped by him as much as anyone. In addition to his extraordinary efforts on behalf of Irish independence, he signed the Anglo-Irish treaty in 1921...More

Another must see when visiting the area and needs an upgrade to something like the work that has been done at the Kilmichael Ambush site. This memorial to Michael Collins is an important part of Irish History and his part in it and ultimately his...More

Unfortunately no bus passes the route that I’m aware of. From Cork City it wouldn’t be that far of a taxi ride but it’d be still 15-20 mins beyond the edge of the city.
