We didn't have time to take in all the river-based activities but did view the river from a scenic overlook and viewed the Opaeka'a Falls. Very accessible from the main road to the east.

The Wailua River State Park is actually made up of several pieces, you can paddle up the river, visit the Kamakilo Village, Opaekaa Falls and the parks around the various ancient ruins that bordered the river.
