Being seafood lovers, my partner and I were excited to try the Oyster Shed. Reading all the reviews, it was a must to visit. When we visited, we ordered Oysters, muscles, crab, langoustines, chips and squid rings.

The oysters were delicious although they were not cleaned. The muscles were delicious as well but since they are served in a take away box, all of the buttery sauce ended up all in the bag.

The langoustines were bland, and not cleaned well, I ended up removing the poop sacks from each and every langoustine we ate.
The crab was not bad but it was also not cleaned.
The squid rings were quite disappointing, no seasoning and dry. In fact we threw away most of it.

Whenever I go out I always try to look at the positive things but this visit was truly disappointing. At the "dining area", the barrels were not cleaned and the hammers were not either. Wish I could give a higher rating but unfortunately that was our experience

We were in need of some fresh local seafood and after not finding anywhere to our liking where we were staying (Portree) we set off to the Fairy Pools. On the way back to the main road we saw a sign for The Oyster Shed. It was hard to find so we had to goggle it to find the location. Once we got there there was no other cars in the car park and we were a bit sceptical. After walking in there was a lovely shop where we purchased a pack of cards, Pate, and a shot cup. The lady behind the counter pointed out the menu on the left side was hot food takeaway. After not knowing what to get as we wanted it all we opted for the platter which consisted of a whole Lobster, Langoustine tails, Scallops, Oysters, Rollmop, Mussels, Smoked Salmon, Squid rings. Everything was amazing apart from the Rollmop and Squid rings. The Squid was more like shop bought frozen ones and onion ring-esque. We started off eating in the car as it was a cold day but the Lobster and Langoustines needed a table so we went to the outside area which gave us a nice view and a hammer to break open the Lobster claws. I would definitely recommend if you are in the area!

Great seafood , nice gift shop too! A little bit tricky to find as the sign had been blown down in high winds! And we were directed to turn right rather than left off the main road to get to the place.

We drove from Portree to the Oyster Shed, very scenic.
Zoe in the shop taking orders, preparing the oysters and running the shop. Paul doing the cooking and preparing some awesome fresh seafood. Must have oysters, scallops and langoustines with chips. Take our wine/beer and glasses with you. Dog friendly.
Great standing around the barrels eating fresh seafood with view

Oh ….. my …. days! What an amazing place! After ordering a ‘next day delivery boxI’ at the start of lockdown (delivered to South Wales in refrigerated iced box) we were adamant we would visit in it recent tour to Skye! We were on the island for three nights and visited twice! The freshest and most delicious seafood we have had. My husband said his oysters were the best he’s eaten and my scallops were huge pillows of salty goodness! Great service and fun to eat in the outside area overlooking the loch (and cracking your lobster with the enormous hammers loved to the massive barrels! A really really really big ‘must do’! Parking is small so time it right or alternatively make ‘the climb’ you won’t be disappointed!

Such a brilliant place. We had a couple of oysters and the scallops and chips - both were amazing and the scallops especially were probably the best I've eaten. All topped off with some incredible views while you eat. Highly recommended!

My husband and I shared a whole lobster (with extra chips). All cooked beautifully fresh to order. Loved the garlic butter with the lobster.

When ever I’m in Skye I’ll be sure to return.

Top tip. Bring some cutlery.

Great produce, fresh oysters and the lady that served us was very helpful!

I loved that they give you a knife and cloth to break open the oysters to keep, great touch!

Quite disappointed the kitchen wasn’t open, we were looking forward to some cooked seafood. We did purchase scallops and lobster for home and they were lovely.

Sorry to say that the oysters we had were not nice at all. In fact we only ate 2 out of the 6. They were dry, shells were brittle and the taste was gamey
It’s a shame because I was here 3 years ago and I had recommended this place to my friends

Excellent fresh Oysters and very cheaply priced. You enter the shed, place order and are then given instructions on how to open own Oysters. Sheltered Standing area outside to eat.

Would highly recommend.
