I spent 2 days touring with Dave. But however much time you've got, a tour with Dave is beyond recommended, I reckon it’s compulsory if you want to get the full flavour of L&H past and present. Dave assisted with tailoring the itinerary. All the local knowledge and experience, not having to worry about driving, a personalised tour at your... More

We did a half day tour with Dave on Lewis and another on Harris. We were very impressed by Dave's knowledge regarding all the sites he took us to especially there weren't much information boards around in the area (and some weren't even recognised as an archaeological site). Dave has a real passion in studying stone circles and it was... More

We have visited many Neolithic sites in the UK, Ireland and Brittany, so we probably knew more than the average tourist. Dave turned out to be a true expert, not only in the overall subject of archaeology, but also in the sites on the Isle of Lewis you won't find on a tourist map. He took us in his Land... More

I did two 5-hour tours with Dave; one focused on Harris, the other on Lewis. It was all quite good. I sent Dave a list of things I was interested in seeing ahead of time, but also told him that since he had so much local knowledge, any suggestions or recommendations from his would be welcome. He showed me many... More

The half-day tour with Dave was definitely one of the highlights of my Scotland vacation. He picked me up at my hotel and we spent the next 4 hours talking about the region's archeology and Lewis is general. I was specifically interested in the standing stones, and what I learned could never have been found in a tour book. Dave... More

I organised this tour online with Dave and he was there to meet me on the quayside when my boat came in. I spent about 6 hours with Dave and we must have spent the entire time chatting away, not just on the archaeology and history, culture etc. of the Islands but also of the modern day Lewis and modern... Dave is knowledgeable and includes places off the beaten track. You get taken out in his landrover while he chats about the island history and the problems encountered in attempting to preserve and promote these Neolithic sites.

I found Dave online and the website seemed to offer a very accommodating service. Right from the initial communication with Dave, he inquired as to our interest and how much time we had available to explore Lewis. He offered several suggestions as well, including picking us up at our accommodation early enough (0430) to get to Callanish for sunrise. Dave... More

We had two 3 to 4 hour tours with Dave of the key archaeological sites on Lewis and Harris over 2 separate days. Dave's deep insights and extensive knowledge of the archaeological heritage of the Western Isles provided us with a great introduction to the prehistory of this wonderful place. Dave was personable, informative and engaged and tailored the tours... More

It was a damp October morning when we got picked up by Dave in his landrover defender for a tour of the north end of the Isle of Lewis, we had both been to these islands before and thought we knew something of its heritage - but we were wrong! Daves knowledge was encyclopaedic and he took us to places... More
