A regular boat trip from Mull / Ulva ferry in summer visits the Treshnish Isles , now uninhabited . This gives a great opportunity to view seabirds including puffins and spectacular scenery . Stout footwear and clothing required ; a fantastic trip

Unfortunately, the puffins had already left the island preparing for the oncoming winter. I must admit missing out on the popularity of this ‘Puffin Therapy’, where one can sit within a few feet of these iconic little Sea Parrots, was a bitter disappointment. Nevertheless, the climb to the top of the island. It was a challenging walk at times but... More

Coupled a visit to this island with another to Staffa to see Fingals Cave. Arranged by Staffa Tours this was a 6 hour plus day trip costing around £60 for an adult, and worth every penny. Went to Staffa first and stopped for an hour or so to view the cave and views from the top of the island, a... More

Up until a year ago I’d never heard of the Treshnish Isles until I found an exhibition about them in one of the buildings at the Hynish Centre on Tiree which is operated by the Hebridean Trust. There appeared to be emphasis on the fact that the islands were a popular breeding ground for birds probably helped by the fact... More

the waves we big so landing was a bit scary, and you have to have good balance and be able to walk on some rough trails to get to the other side of the isle...on the cliffs are all the wildlife you can imagine....Puffins, guillemots, Razorbills, Cormorants, and many more....Sitting on the rocky ledge and taking in the views were... Once in lifetime visit experience - incredible to see the puffins nesting in the rabbit holes and totally oblivious to humans nearby. We visited from a friend's cruising yacht and were able to be there before the trip boats arrived so we had the island to ourselves - with about 10,000 birds of course! Amazing experience. The trip boats are... More

Spending time in close company with wild animals that have no fear of humans does something special for the soul, and they don't come much more adorable than the puffins on Lunga. Our tour with Turus Mara was a highlight of our 2-week trip to Scotland, and I'd recommend it to anyone with a love of animals, with the exception... More

Sweet, slightly goofy puffins run all over the cliffs of the isle, but you need to be prepared if you're going to enjoy your visit. The seas can be rough and folks do get seasick on the crossing. If you're prone to seasickness, take precautions. Follow the advice about having waterproof clothing (rain during the crossing could make it miserable... More

Lunga is about a 50 minute boat ride from Fionnphort. It is quite a large Island and we visited with Staffa Tours who where really good and friendly. There are a few operators that work from Mull and all seem to be close in price so its a matter of which area of Mull is easiest to get to for... More

We had a rough voyage to get to Lunga, but were rewarded by the Puffins being really friendly and photogenic, there are some ruins from when the island was inhabited, and the wild flowers in bloom were lovely, it rained, we got soaked, but couldn't have been happier
