I had wanted to visit St Kilda for a very long time, and then when I got the opportunity, it was definately worth the wait :) (And money....). I would highly recommend it to anyone. The history has always fascinated me, I travelled with a...More

This tiny "abandoned" island chain between Scotland and the U.S. is the remotest part of the British Isles. It takes money and sheer will to get there - it's 4 hours one way by small boat and the water is the choppiest I've experienced. But...More

Few people have the opportunity to visit this amazing place, and I was fortunate to be one of them a few weeks ago. The long boat trip over and back is worth the experience. Dual UNESCO world heritage site... do walk to the top of...More

What a great place to visit. The remoteness has to be experienced to be believed. You'll get 4 hours on the island and then a trip to the sea stacks to see the bird life. If you've been to north Berwick it's very similar but...More

Spent four nights on Saint Kilda with Marcus Macadam Photography. One of the best experiences I have had, and well worth the journey from Australia. The history of the village and the wildlife, birds etc. make this a truly magical place to photograph. We travelled...More

The visit to Hirta had been high on our list for a while and to get there first attempt a huge success! We went with gotostkilda, fast boats so maximum time on the island and time sailing around the cliffs. The history of the islanders...More

FINALLY , we made it out to this famed archipelago - what a trip! Great boat (Sea Harris) which coped brilliantly with the rough seas. I agree with others who have complained about the MoD buildings and supply area around Village Bay.It is a complete...More

This was a really cool place to experience! Such a remote island and learning about Hirta and its former inhabitants is fascinating. There is a beautiful little beach to explore and lots of old building to walk between. Brought a packed lunch (a must, no...More

Amazing day, left from Leverburgh in Harris. Not a cloud in the sky. Just over 3 hours later, climbing up to the Gap above the village. Great walk around the caldera. Needed the beer provided by the boat, then home. One off my bucket list.

The only accommodation on St Kilda is where the National Trust for Scotland has made some of the cottages habitable. To stay or work there you need to contact the NTS.
