After spending the previous few days exploring the incredible ancient kingdoms of Anuradhapura & Polonnaruwa, this temple seemed a little underwhelming. This is a beautiful setting however and worth a visit on your way south to Kandy or to Matale, even if just for the photo to claim your title of having visited the centre of the island!

The Nalanda Gedige is an ancient temple with a Hindu Kovil. This was earlier situated in the middle of the reservoir, but when the expansion of the reservoir, this was relocated as it was earlier days. Shape and stones everything kept as they were.
This place is believed to be the center of Sri Lanka.

A small but very interesting temple with erotic but eroded Tantric Buddhist carvings about 1 km from main road from Matale to Dambulla.

This is a Hindu Temple built between 8th and 11th century with intriguing carvings and details of Hinduism influence from South Indian architecture in relation to tantric learnings. Free entry to this archeological site. Interesting place to stop over shortly for 15-20 mins after visiting Dambulla Golden Cave Temple before heading to Kandy.

If you are driving from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya you might want to stop and take a look at this beautiful temple. I would maybe not drive a long way just to see this temple but it is a nice stop after a long drive.

Visited this place during our traval to Moragahakanda Reservoir.

It is an ancient buildings, which build at the center of the country. Most important thing how they located just using mechanical tools without having digital instrument currently available.
