Looks impressive from the outside and the gardens are certainly pleasant but inside was a little disappointing with a mix of old and new, some rooms almost looked like they were being lived in and the decor was strange. Tried hard to make it interesting...More

We were greeted by friendly folks. We paid a small fee to go through the castle. We were in a group tour and enjoyed the furnishings and history.

This is a proper functioning castle, the family still inhabit it. The tour of the castle is well put together and the guide was interesting to listen to. The highlight for us are the gardens no matter what time of year you visit.

Large car park, easy to find. Beautiful castle - I highly recommend reading the room notes in each room (or buying the guide book, which contains all the notes), because whoever wrote them has a wicked sense of humour! Gardens are stunning. Formal gardens, but...More

After visiting numerous so-called castles in Scotland, Cawdor had more of what I expected from a castle - thick stone walls, tapestries, low doorways, a hodgepodge design from additions over the years, a drawbridge, and formal gardens. We visited in early October, just a few...More

Cawdor Castle is still occupied by the Cawdor family. So it is furnished. The castle is great, but the furnishings are extraordinary as well. The add so much to the history. The gardens are fun to walk through as well.

This was our last stop on a long day of touring as the weather got increasingly chilly and quite windy....really felt like Scottish fall was coming on. If you ever wonder what it is like to live in a castle, this is the place to...More

The castle itself was interesting but a bit of a hotch potch in style. The old kitchen took you straight back in time. We had a lovely, inexpensive lunch of soup and sandwiches. The highlight , of course, is the grounds. They are magnificent even...More

This castle is lived in. Dates to 1100's and has been added to extensively. Rooms well decorated. Great signage. Worth your time. We thought the gardens were a high point. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.

A very nice Castle still habited from October to April. Entering the rooms is like coming home, what an atmosphere, nice furniture, paintings, the kitchen downstairs, one can walk 3 times again and still discover new things. Also outside the garden is very nice, despite...More
