A quiet corner in Inverness

Local people and professionals have come together to create a fabulous, abundant and beautiful nature reserve in a an area of Inverness off the the tourist track and usually thought of as more run down. It is worth a visit as some rare gems are to be found there and it's a fine example of a wildlife retreat for any... More

Calling this a nature reserve is stretching the truth, it's more like a dog walking path. Very little nature to be seen with the exception of a mallard and an oystercatcher, the claim that kingfishers have been here must be a wild exageration, the dipping pond is nothing more than a muddy puddle. Please save yourself the trip and go... More

Very disappointed as the reviews we read spoke highly of this reserve. It is on the shore of Beauly Firth and if you stay on the footpath toward the Caledonian Canal you get splendid views of the firth and the Kessock Bridge. It is difficult to find, hidden behind a run down housing estate. When we took the boardwalk into... More

This Nature Reserve is not well sign posted from one particular entrance so I got lost for about 45 minutes trying to find it. Fortunately I spoke to a really helpful lady that worked there who was extremely patient with me when I had to ring her 3 times to find it! But it is a really beautiful place and... More

As Michael Cane would say, "this is a fantastic little part of Inverness and not a lot of people know that". If you are a family that likes wildlife but live in Inverness or are staying near the centre, treat yourselves to a visit here and you'l be surprised at the wealth of wildlife and scenery.

We always come here at least a couple of times when we're up staying at Coulmore bay. The drive from Inverness centre takes you through a bit of a housing scheme and you think at first that you must be going the wrong way but keep going as far as you can and you come to the old ferry point...
