First customers of the day, we popped in for coffee and breakfast. Cooked to order and served lovely and hot very efficiently and friendly staff bake on the premises! Home made cakes abound! Delicious. Lovely coffee and can guarantee they make a lovely pot of tea as I've been there before. Always enjoy the refreshments any time of day. But... More

Popped in on Saturday with friends and was interested to see that it has had an update on its displays and a new film. Well worth spending an hour here on a rainy day. It also has a wee shop, café and toilets. The last of which unfortunately were not good.

Had a lovely wander round here, on a very rainy and blustery day. It's not massive, but well worth a look. There is plenty of free parking in front and round about it. Very helpful staff, and is wheelchair accessible. The building itself outside is really beautiful, and well worth a look, when the rain eases off!

An excellently informative, free to enter museum showing the local area from ancient and prehistoric times through to the modern day industrial era of Dounreay . The displays and film are suitable for all ages, disabled access throughout and an on site learning suite is available too. Free parking near the river just a few moments walk from the entrance... Initially came in to use the toilet but was drawn in to watch short information film on the top floor- stunning shots and informative about the local area. I love museums and this one did not disappoint. I especially enjoyed the carved stones on the ground floor. I never knew that some of these stones originally had a thin cover... More

Living near here I really should use this place more often, it has a visitors centre, shop, cafe & museum. The Dounreay exhibit & film is a particularly good record of how the first fast reactor was developed, the site history of Dounreay & how it is being cleaned up. Interesting carved stones from 1300 years ago. Plenty of free... More

Such a wonderful informative journey through time in this free to enter museum. The place has lots to offer giving you an historical tour of Caithness. There is also an excellent cafe and small gift shop.

This is a great cafe for a bit of lunch or just a coffee and cake. They always have a good selection of home baking on offer - big cake slices, scones, tray bakes, etc. They all look lovely and taste great. Service is good and there's free wifi - always a bonus when kids are in tow!
