Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The librarian was incredibly helpful when I needed WiFi/phone charging to top up data whilst I was on holiday, and arranged a temporary account.
I visited the gallery too, which is worth a visit.
I did of course say thank you at the time but wanted to record my gratitude on here. Thanks again!

This is a place to take some time out - browse the books, browse the Internet, read the papers, play chess, join the Bookclub, join in with the LegoClub, knit (natter), research your family, see what’s on in the little art gallery and many other activities. The staff are fantastic, the surroundings are lovely and there’s even a coffee machine. It does occasionally rain in Thurso but as long as the library is open it doesn’t matter!

An impressive building to see whilst you’re driving through, but not sure it sets the world alight
Aug 2019
Whilst researching the NC500 Thurso library is mentioned as a notable point of interest in Thurso especially given it was recently refurbished. It’s a statuesque imposing building, and it’s no effort to take it in through your car window. I could only take it in from the outside as when I went it was closed. The building has a clocktower and a pillared facade. An impressive building to see whilst you’re driving through, but I’m not sure it sets the world alight,. No doubt it’s a decent library. Perhaps inside it has more treasured to see and I gather there is a gallery. In fact whilst you’re there the town square with its church and flowers is a pretty point to take in. whilst you are there.

The selection of books on hand is limited, but any book in the system can be ordered and delivered to the library for pickup. Great children's area. The gallery has rotating displays. Today was Fishing in the North Sea.

I love the new self service machines that allow you to borrow books, magazines and dvds without having to wait in a queue to be seen by a member of staff. Also you can order books online using the app and then they'll give you a ring when it's arrived and you can help yourself once they tell you which shelf they leave them on. Very helpful staff and lovely new facilities. Free WiFi and you can use their computers and print things out too.

This is great for kids but the choice of reading is very limited, but as it's a small town in the middle of nowhere it's better than nothing

Lovely place, and very spacious inside. Great place to take refuge on a stormy day, which Thurso has many of.
The gallery is lovely to wander round, and didn't know it was there 'til I went inside.
