Steam through the stunning Scottish Highlands in style. Our steam engines take you on a very special trip through the Cairngorms National Park as you travel between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill. Why not make your trip extra special with one of our dining on board options: Light Lunch offers soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee; Afternoon Tea has some sandwiches, scones with jam and cream followed by some delicious cakes; or enjoy a full three course Sunday Lunch or Dinner. Why not upgrade to First Class to enjoy a meal in one of our compartments, finely decorated in it's own tartan, with vintage British Rail mirrors and luggage racks inside. Split your trip up with a visit to Boat of Garten to explore some fantastic walk trails or bring your bike on board to explore the great cycle routes in the area. See if you can beat the train back from Broomhill on your bike!We are also taking part in the Great Railway Treasure Hunt 2013, so there's plenty for the kids to do on the trip!

Short trip up and down in the steam train which really made my 2 year olds day. At £14 per ticket return I thought this pretty reasonable for a 2 hour steam train journey. The scenery is wonderful and the volunteers who run it were...More

Kids had a nice time but there could be a little more to the enthusiasm of creating an experience from the past. Expensive for a family of 5 but ok for a rainy day experience

This has the potential to be a fantastic experience and worthy of the £125 price tag placed on it. However its lack of organisation, attention to detail and overall professionalism leaves it to be an embarrassment to Aviemore and Scottish tourism. It was meant to...More

There is nothing quite like the sights, sounds, and smells of a steam train! The gentle rocking of the carriage as the train slowly makes its way through the Scottish countryside is a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours, whatever the weather. There...More

Great little ride along the Strathspey Railway. Bikes travel for free and the line follows a portion of the National Cycle Network route 7 : recommend cycling one way and steaming the other for a great day out with the kids.

Travelled in July, on a beautiful day. Well worth having your camera handy, from the minute you enter Aviemore station, it's like walking back in time. The ten mile journey from Aviemore via Boat of Garten to Broomhill is in wonderful scenery. All staff are...More

Fascinating trains and engines travel through impressive countryside and call at quaint stations. Only downside was being told very abruptly as we got off the train that our dogs should have been on the floor throughout the journey (all were on our laps and none...More

The staff are as friendly as they were all those years ago and the scenery is just as good. We stopped on the way back from Inverness and by chance it was a family day with all sorts of activities for both families and enthusiasts....More

We got off to stretch our legs on the platform. The toilets were freshly decorated no graffiti anywhere to be seen. There is a small gift shop in the ticket office
