Steam through the stunning Scottish Highlands in style. Our steam engines take you on a very special trip through the Cairngorms National Park as you travel between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill. Why not make your trip extra special with one of our dining on board options: Light Lunch offers soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee; Afternoon Tea has some sandwiches, scones with jam and cream followed by some delicious cakes; or enjoy a full three course Sunday Lunch or Dinner. Why not upgrade to First Class to enjoy a meal in one of our compartments, finely decorated in it's own tartan, with vintage British Rail mirrors and luggage racks inside.Split your trip up with a visit to Boat of Garten to explore some fantastic walk trails or bring your bike on board to explore the great cycle routes in the area. See if you can beat the train back from Broomhill on your bike!We are also taking part in the Great Railway Treasure Hunt 2013, so there's plenty for the kids to do on the trip!

Took a trip mid week on the 1230 from Aviemore (and return). Lovely experience and all volunteers whether in ticket office/shop or on the train where helpful, friendly and informative. We were in carriage E which is the last of six carriages on the outward journey but at the front on the way back. The engine being positioned so close... More

The trip on the Strathspey Steam Train was truly wonderful and very relaxing. Scenic views all along the trip. The afternoon tea was definitely worth doing. Scones, sweets, sandwiches and tea. More food than one person could eat and all good. Staff was very nice. Spend an afternoon riding through the lovely Cairngorms.

We, 3 adults and 3 kids booked a trip on this railway excursion for the 10:30 departure on Saturday 22nd October. What an experience this was. We booked our seats to include a light lunch which consisted of soup, sandwich and tea. We all enjoyed the experience which lasted around 2.5 hours. A special Thankyou to the engineer for entertaining... More

Enjoyed the journey to Broomhill with nice autumnal weather, good views of the countryside, friendly volunteer staff on and off the train.

We booked this trip on the day as something to do that wouldn't exert us much as my daughter has mobility issues, unfortunately this was a step too far and we all found the trip a little boring. No one's fault just not our cup of tea. Train was comfortable, staff were pleasant, views were nice. There was no trolley... More

Recently myself, wife, daughter and granddaughter enjoyed a leisurely jaunt along the Strathspey rail line from Aviemore to Broomhill ( Glendarroch ) stopping at Boat of Garten for a short break and then the return from Broomhill. Worth the trip for the scenery and the wild life. Will do it again in the future.

Went as part of Great Rail Journey's 'Highland Adventure' holiday. We travelled from Aviemore to Broomhill and back behind LMS Ivatt Class 2 no 46512 'E.V. Cooper Engineer' (a nicely looked-after locomotive). Throughout the roundtrip, I admired the nice scenery plus service offered by the volunteer staff (trolley service, ticket inspectors, station staff, etc.) and I would most certainly recommend... Had a lovely steam train ride along here from Aviemore to Broomhill.. there's a stop at Boat of Garten which is a lovely little village where you can stop for a pint or a fresh village shop pastry or a walk into the woodland.
