From start to finish I had a great experience with Ian. Booking process and pre-trip contact was simple and friendly and the experience on the hills was cracking. Ian took the time to understand my objectives and gave me a couple of days on the ridges of Skye that were both challenging but achievable. I had previously done the most... More

Ian's local knowledge meant we got to a great crag with a relatively short walk in, and then had plenty of options. Ian's route choice could not have been better! A relatively easy start with a couple of interesting moves helped me shake out the cobwebs and build confidence to try something a little harder, and climb a little better... More

Ian from Stewart Mountain Skills took me and my friend out for some low-to-mid grade mixed winter climbs. Ian arrived prepared with a few options for the day, possible routes and an excellent knowledge of the local area. We couldn't have asked for more. The area Ian took us to was quite, considering the sunshine, and he was expert in... More

Bill and Ian were very enthusiastic and informative guides. The day was tailormade for the group with individual attention throughout. I learned a lot about the mountains and the skills to survive. It was a great introduction and will make a big difference to future trips.

Thanks Ian for making the most of terrible conditions. I gained confidence playing in the snow in crampons and with the ice axe. You're tuition on avalanches was invaluable and will be useful for future trips.

Excellent weekend with Duncan from Stewart Mountain Skills on Knoydart. The weather wasn't great and as a quite large group this had to be considered carefully. One big mountain day followed by a smaller hill day was perfectly tailored to the needs of the group. Amazing views in an amazing place.

The traverse of the Aonach Eagach was one of the most memorable days in the hills mainly as a result of Ian guiding us along. The day with Ian was enjoyable, informative and most importantly safe. Ian is a top class guide / instructor and I would recommend him to anyone who requires an outdoors professional.

We contacted Stewart Mountain Skills to see if they could organise a winter skills weekend for us in the Cairngorms at short notice. Ian responded quickly to our enquiry and despite us not giving him much notice he managed to organise a really enjoyable and useful weekend. He set us up with a great instructor who contacted us before the... More

Just back from a one day pre Summer Mountain Leader Assessment one on one course followed by a two day winter skills course. Fantastically well organised, well thought through, exceptionally well executed and some of the best money I've spent in a very long time. Ian is truly gifted at teaching, he was able to adapt everything around my own... More

Just back from a great trip to the Cairngorms and thoroughly recommend going with these guys. We were able to customise the 2 days to what we wanted, making the most of the vast experience on offer. Alex was a great guide and instructor with a skill of being able to explain climbing concepts simply and clearly. Being last off... More
