Glasgow Tower is the only structure on earth capable of rotating 360° into the prevailing wind and holds the Guinness World Record for the tallest fully rotating freestanding structure in the world. At 127 metres high — the equivalent of over 30 double-decker buses — Glasgow Tower is the tallest freestanding building in Scotland. Glasgow Tower is designed to move in the wind. Some visitors find the swaying sensation in windy weather unnerving. This is why the Tower closes when the wind speed exceeds gusts of 25 mph at cabin height. Glasgow Tower is an experience that is operated by Glasgow Science Centre. Glasgow Tower operates, when weather conditions permit, during the summer season. Tickets cost £5.50 when bought as an add-on to a Science Mall ticket. A stand-alone ticket for Glasgow Tower costs £9.50. (Prices stated include Gift Aid, Donation and VAT.) .

Beautiful and interesting tower. Glasgow Science Centre Tower is located on the south bank of the River Clyde in Glasgow and is part of the Glasgow Science Center complex. It is shaped like an aerofoil with 4 manually-operated motors to turn it into the wind in order to reduce wind resistance and improve stability. It is the tallest fully rotating freestanding structure in the world, in which the whole structure is capable of rotating 360 degrees. The original architectural design was by the architect Richard Horden. Great place for a day out and would highly recommend this to everyone.

Brilliant. Very interesting how the engineering all works. It was windy so I was expecting it to sway but to be honest it was no worse than a boat in a slight swell. It was a sunny day so the view was great. Saw as far away as Ben Lomand. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable- especially Lupin (sorry if I got your name not quite right!).

A trip to the top of the glasgow tower will cost £3. A staff member will give you a guide of the engineering details of the tower first if you want to or go straight up to enjoy the view. You can spend as long as you want in the top but 15 mins will be quite enough. There are digital screens so you know what buildings/sights you see. Overall great experience.

We visited the tower as a package with the Science Centre. We got to the tower as soon as it opened so we were the first ones to go up, we loved the talk from the guide explaining how the tower was built and how it works, it was very interesting and the design is so innovative its incredible but once you go up the views are amazing, especially on a clear day, definitely worth a visit.

The tower is miracle of mechanics. It would be wise to study first its operating principal as it has the ability to rotate by its axle like a pencil. We had't had the luck to go all the way up due to winds. We visited just the science museum.
Anyway the visit worth the time spent there.

we have visited the Science Centre many times over the years and this is the first time it has been open . Great views but do not go if you cannot stand heights as the lift has windows you can see out as you go up . Only 4 of us went up and the view is great the disappointing thing was finding out the tower only turns twice a year. It seems an incredible waste of money that the public cannot enjoy it rotating .They could have built a tower at half the price and we would have been quite happy .We bought our tickets at the Tower itself . Thank you to young Bobby who showed us around and fielded all our questions .

On a gloomy Monday morning of a long weekend in Glasgow with a flight in the afternoon the wife and myself happened upon Charlie the maintenance man at the foot of the Glasgow Tower. Charlie was doing his daily check but took time out to give us a detailed chat about the tower and its history and promised us that a ride to the top would be worth every penny of the £6.50.............He was bang on! Thanks Charlie! Fantastic views up and down the Clyde and into the city. Would highly recommend.

Walked here in the rain from city centre to be told it was closed due to the wind (it wasn't windy at all). We were advised we could wait half an hour to see if it opened but we just left. Will try again in next month but knowing Glasgow's wet climate it will probably still be closed 😔

This would’ve been amazing to go up but it was shut. No lifts appeared to be there even!
