Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Off for the Easter weekend and we thought we’d give the square a go. Used to be lots of decent places but now it seems like a ghost town. Only decent places are O’Neills and tap yard. I remember it used to be busy all the time. Such a a shame.

We wandered in on a Saturday evening around 8pm. Wow! It was like entering a very large aviary full of manic parakeets. The noise drove us back out onto the street......the bars might be great, the restaurants top notch, but we’ll never know. The noise was a potential threat. I’d recommend ear defenders if you’re stopping.......

I spent Saturday afternoon in Merchant Square avoiding the cold outside. I love the fact you can sit outside any number of bars or restaurants inside the square watching sport on a big screen or just watch the world go by. I think this is a fab way to use an old building.

Right in the heart of the merchant city, merchant square is great for a day or night out. There are lots of bars and restaurants to choose from. All indoors so great choice if it's cold or raining outside. At the weekend there is craft markets in the centre of the square. Will be visiting again soon.

Went with friends for drinks at somebody's birthday and was greeted by a cheerful, beautiful and beautifully clad crowd of young people, drinking and enjoying the lively atmosphere, with many restaurants and bars, many of them with music. Definitely the place and time in Glasgow where I saw the most beautiful people...

Merchant Square is a well designed repurposed building in an up and coming neighbourhood. It is filled with a number of restaurants around an interior courtyard, but that is it. Many reviews talk about vendors and craft fairs, but if you go mid-week, you better be hungry because there is nothing but restaurants.

Once inside merchant square you can walk around the cobbled courtyard, normally at weekends you can find stalls setup inside selling nice handmade jewellery and artwork etc plus leading off the courtyard are different restuarants and bars with a mix of irish, scottish, mexican cuisines etc. Lots to choose from.
