Situated on the other side of Hope Street from the Theatre Royal, there are several performance spaces in this building to cater for students of drama, music and opera. I have visited all of them over the years. The main theatre is called the New Athenaeum, and it is a superb little theatre with stalls and two circles. Students performing... More

This week's Friday lunchtime concert was the recital by Scottish Opera's Emerging Artists. What a joy! Excellent hall with superb acoustics, comfortable seats and delightful singing. What a great way to spend an hour in the city!

Tommy Smith and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestral featuring Arild Andersen, on bass, from Oslo, Norway playing Charlie Mingus.................fantastic! I've been here to listen to the SNJO lots of times but this was the best yet. Check this place out guys, next concert, ''Charlie Parker's Music''. Be there or be square!

Stumbled across the Juniors concert. At £3 it seemed like a good thing to visit. It was amazing and inspiring, with so many talented young people. All should be commended. Especially, Nicola Stevenron's flute playing was great and Joseph Pickering along with Jack Mellon on clarinet were superb. ..and they are young. Rebecca Steven on violin was great. Emma Bird... Attended the Cameron Mackintosh charity performance of the show "Cabaret" It was awesome, inspirational and deeply moving! The Conservatoire is perfect intimate venue for a show of this type/calibre! When you look at the photographs on the wall of famous performers who passed through their doors we should be extremely proud! Please support this venue, whether it's concerts, shows, recitals... Great place to catch new faces, fresh productions and decent banter. Opera school's Cosi Fan Tutte just enjoyed, outstanding cast, excellent twist on setting and music played with a bit of period instrumentation thrown in. Tremendous all round. Only thing I'd want to change would be having cafe open for a short while after performances, loads of folk looking for... More

Each year I go to the opera that is put on at the Conservatoire in January to showcase the talent studying there . It never disappoints. The Athenaeum theatre is excellent and the student staff are always delightful

I've been to see lots of music and dance stuff here. The helpful, willing staff are great and the auditorium and theatre are comfortable and modern. Can't speak for the quality of the courses but the infrastructure is top notch. Nice cafe and clean toilets. Win.
