Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I recently got married in this stunning venue.
All the staff (especially Judy, Willie and Paul) were very friendly, professional and couldn't do enough to help make our day an amazing spectacle.
Everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves and commented on the stunning architecture and history of all the rooms and the building itself.
We would therefore thoroughly recommend this venue to anyone wishing to host any event.

Our original wedding venue closed 3 weeks before the wedding. The Trades Hall managed to fit us in despite having a booking earlier that day. Elaine was a consummate professional who took all our stress away and reassured us we would have the wedding we had originally planned. So very personable! Communication was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Despite having only an hour and a half to turn the grand hall around for our wedding, Elaine and her team did an exceptional job. Everything was perfect just the way we planned. 210 guests praised the staff and venue. The whole team at the Trades Hall were brilliant, so friendly and so professional, determined to make sure our wedding was perfect. We would recommend this wedding venue to anyone thinking about getting married in the city centre. You will be in safe hands and will have the wedding of your dreams in beautiful surroundings.

Attended the Craftex Exhibition. Beautifully maintained Hall with lots of original features. The Trades Hall still funds crafts in Glasgow. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice Hall to visit for some history of Glasgow.

35Group tickets purchased and half were cancelled 24hours before show. !!!!!! No explanation as to why? Absolutely shocking. Moved our tickets to another night ( it must have been empty). How can you sell more tickets than you have seats ???? Requested a refund for tickets. Will see how long this takes to be returned. 😡

Attended a wedding recently and was looking forward to making my first visit to the Trades Hall. Have to say I was a bit disappointed. The main wedding hall was “traditional” and quite nice and food was decent. Other than that it was all downhill. I didn’t see one member of staff smile. There is no actual bar. There is a crude “home made” type pretend bar charging extortionate prices. No draft beer just bottles in a big plastic barrel filled with ice but they still charge £4.50 for a bottle- what a rip off.

Hi. Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased to hear that you liked the venue and that the food was acceptable to you.
Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of our venue, we are unable to install fixed, permanent bars in the rooms. This is something our clients are aware of when booking the venue as is the option to have draft beer. With regards to prices, these are price checked frequently with other similar establishments in the area and are aligned with them.
The provision of fridges is something that our caterers are currently looking at.
Thank you once again for your feedback and feel free to contact me on elaine@tradeshallglasgow.co.uk at any time.

Attended a wedding here last week and it was amazing. Felt the drinks were a bit pricey but it is the city centre. Staff were very efficient.

A few minutes from Queen Street Station, this 18th century Robert Adam masterpiece is as stunning inside as out.
On Doors Open Day, the many visitors (including moi) were warmly welcomed and given tours of each palatial area including the Grand Hall and the Saloon which the famous John Keppie re-designed in the early 20th century. The carpet in the Deacon Convener's Suite did make me go green with envy !
Mrs Maltman, the Deacon Convener herself gave up time to show us parts of the building as did the Trades House member on the top floor who showed me round the exhibition area in the former 'school with a view'.
This ancestral home of the 14 medieval trades is still a Trade organisation but one which supports good causes within the City of Glasgow. All kinds of events are held here including the first class glass exhibition coinciding with Doors Open.
Their social media pages go into it all in detail and they are such lovely folk that I'm sure if you've come from afar and can't wait until the next Doors Open, you could contact them and make an appointment to view the treasures within.

I am told that this is the second oldest building in Glasgow. The sign above states it was designed by Robert Adam and built in 1791.
There is a lovely window to the left of the entrance displaying the coats of arms of several of the old trades guilds.
Sadly, as I had not booked ahead, it was closed today to the public.
After 200+ years, it still looked magnificent with the sun shining on it when we visited.
