Too slow and no marshals to keep the game moving terrible greens( brown really)
Jun. 2021
We were a medium size group and we a re normal speed players but taking over 5hours 30 minutes was just awful, after 2 hours the will to keep playing was slowly ebbing away and just ruined the whole experience, the greens were actually brown so compared to the New and Eden course miles away in quality. I spoke with the starter after the round and all he could say was that it was due to lack of staff - COVID, so I will not be returning with our group again.

OUTSTANDING
Jun. 2021
There are not enough superlatives in my vocabulary to describe the experience we had at The Castle Course last week. The weather was beautiful, the views are stunning, the course is challenging and beautifully maintained. I am afraid that my golf did not live up to the surroundings but at least the fish and chips in the clubhouse made amends served by friendly staff who obviously take a pride in their work.
Thoroughly reccommend

Playing the course is a unique experience, challenging but fun.
The service in the clubhouse is outstanding. Far the best in Scotland.
I like the clubhouse with great views.
Good menu in the restaurant.
Much appreciated the last minute caddies requests. Great job..
I will definitely go back.

Surreal Experience
Jun. 2021
My wife and I had always wanted to experience golfing at the birthplace of golf - St Andrews. A slot came available for us when I sent and email enquiry (one week before) to play one round.

June 8th will always be a day we cherish and treasure. We travelled from OXFORD via train the day before and drove very early to St Andrews to make for our 850am tee off. I guess we were super excited that we arrived just when the course was about to open 7am.

Disappointed we weren't though - thankfully. We were greeted warmly by staff at the reception area ( COLIN & GRAHAM ). They received us warmly and gave us much clarification about how to maximise out experience the CASTLE COURSE. They got us registered and sorted our request for club hire and shoes too.

We even were also helped by LORRAINE who heated our croissant ( that we brought along) for our breakfast before tee-off.

The club rentals were perfect for my wife and I. The shoes too were great, although my wife regretted that she took one size too small and it bothered her in the middle of the back nine. The course was beyond our expectation and the view was just breathtaking - hole 6,7,8 and 9 was distracting beautiful...and there's the intimidating hole 17, which has the tee off and green separated by the beach cliff. - GORGEOUS ...

I cant say very much about the golf I played ( managed only one PAR (5), nevertheless my disappointment was pacified by the surreal experience at CASTLE COURSE.

Later at the clubhouse, for drinks and refreshments - we were also waited kindly by the servers there and one particular lady by the name of FATIMA helped us greatly when she confirmed for us that the chicken were HALAL sourced. This delighted us both and yes, we did enjoy the chicken wings.

My wife and I would certainly like to make a come to ST ANDREWS and our experience with the staff at CASTLE COURSE helped tremendously to allow us to tick this event on our bucket list.

Thank you everyone.

Very enjoyable

Think I would have given excellent if it wasn’t for charging full price and club house closed..only permitted to sign in 15 minutes before tee time. No putting practice and only a few minutes on range. Otherwise, staff lovely. Course brilliant and challenging with some great views across St. Andrews.. will try again on winter prices. Must add the lady that walked us to the first tee to start us was lovely... great job. Made one feel most welcome.

Golf in St Andrews

Turned up hour before tee time, basically was told in no uncertain terms to go away and come back in 45 minutes. Scottish hospitality and service at its best, I don’t think so, and I’m Scottish. COVID-19 has a lot to answer for, but not this level of service.

As for the course itself, excellent test of golf in superb location and well worth playing. Will I be back, no.

When you turn a corner and you're running out of awe's

I only took up Golf last year ... and the Castle was the first on our book Links trip to St Andrews ... it also is our favourite after playing all six in three days, Castle is still the one outstanding. So many photo opportunities but then you don't want to be accused of 'slow play' ;) the experience was awesome, and besides lock down personalised. Everyone of the staff was welcoming, open, and knowledgeable ... we felt extremely well looked after and will definitely return

St. Andrews deal
Mar. 2020 • Friends
My friend & I were given a golf break, as a Christmas present, to play at The Castle course, in St. Andrews.

The break inc. breakfast on arrival, play 18 holes, followed by a two-course meal afterwards.

Safe to say it was fantastic from the moment we arrived to when we left!
We arrived earlier than expected, to welcoming staff, who offered us to tee-off earlier and to be sure to use their complimentary driving range.
After our breakfast & pot of tea (which was lovely), we made our way to the first tee! We were welcomed by the course manager who then briefed us on the course and further information, which was superb! The course itself was in fantastic condition, with beautiful coastal scenary on every turn. I don't know if it was because I played my best ever round.. but it's now one of my favourite golf courses!
When we returned to the clubhouse, which is beautifully placed on a cliff overlooking the sea, we sat down for our delicious two-course meal.
The course and clubhouse were in excellent condition, and with excellent staff, we can't wait to come back!

Spring golf with friends
Mar. 2020
Just days before coronavirus closed all golf courses, we were lucky enough to play The Castle Course in (approx) 20 mph winds. This wind turned an excellent course full of minor dog-legs, great bunkers and unbeatable views over the old toon and Fife into a tiger!
The starter recommended blue tees - just right for our standard between 9 and 14 handicap. And we had a ball!! Demanding, challenging and very true greens added to well defined and maintained fairways. Holes heading in all directions, some directly into the wind if course made the day extrely satisfying
All this on the couse was complimented by very friendly and competent staff both on the course and in the clubhouse. Starting and finishing with excellent drinks and rolls first and a superb two course meal after play gave added joy to tired but very happy golfers
The course is tougher that many I have played, perhaps only beaten in that respect by the new Turnberry course.
You must go to the castle if you want quality, excitement, pleasure and challenge

First Class Customer Service
Mar. 2020 • Friends
This is the second vist to the Castle Course and we plan to make it an annual start to the season.

Everything was special from booking the game, getting a nice wee email the day before to give a few tips to make our day go smoothly to receiving the welcome pack from the friendly reception staff.

Bacon rolls and coffee before we went out with a top up on coffees and a smashing 2 course lunch when we came in. Again very attentive service.

Unfortunately one of our ladies fell coming into the club and landed up in A&E with torn tendons. The Operations Manager Kevin Mckay gave us his card and asked her and the lady who took her to the hospital to contact him so that he could arrange an alternative date to play their game... First class Customer service...

Go play the Castle Course
