The famous Swilcan Bridge on the 18th hole of the Old Course at the Home of Golf. The bridge was originally built over 700 years ago so shepherds could move their flock across the Swilcan Burn which meanders through what is now the 1st and 18th fairways. Today the Swilcan Bridge, with the 'Auld Grey Toun' providing the most beautiful of backdrops, is one of the most iconic settings in golf. So much more than a little stone crossing, the Swilcan Bridge is the history of the game, it's the magic moments, it's felt the footsteps of the true greats.

My first trip to the Old Course and it lived up to all expectations. Being able to walk on the bridge in between groups of golfers was a treat. Being able to walk all around the closed-course on a Sunday was very special.

At least 100 characters to describe the Swilken Bridge! my oh my. Swilken bridge is the most famous golf landmark ever. It is a pit stop for pictures for all golfers that plays on the old course. Here is also where old golf legends is saying goodbye to the course and the viewers, when they pas the bridge for the... More

'Under par' is something to aspire to in golf, but when someone feels 'under par' it's not so good. Such is the contradiction of the Swilken Bridge. To some it's just a non-descript wee stone bridge, to others it symbolises the home of golf. Size-wise it's so obviously not on a par with the Forth Bridges a mere 60 minutes... More

The staff at St Andrews Links are really kind to let us walk across road over Fairway 18 on Old Course to reach the Swilken Bridge. The opportunity for my family and I to strike the iconic pose over the Swilken Bridge and have our photos taken, with the hotels and Hole 18 in the background...priceless!👏🏻😄👍🏻

This bridge is a stunning and iconic part of St Andrews History. Take your time to admire it and the old course. Some people have said on Tripadvisor "Its just a boring bridge" WRONG its a bridge that has been in existence for over 700 years and has had some of the most famous golfers of all time cross over... I am no golfer, in fact I have never played a round of golf in my life, but I just had to do this! I managed to walk over the Swilken Bridge twice - over and back! The Swilken Burn runs under the Swilken Bridge, and the bridge can be found between the first and eighteenth fairways of the Old... More

I went with the intention of spending the day walking the course and it turned out to be so much more. The weather was perfect and since it was a Sunday, the Old Course was open to the public to walk around and take in the sights. This is the best day to go since you won't have to worry... More
