We were recommended by a friend to go here and it was a very interesting visit. British engineering and ingenuity at it's best. Oddly though there is no information at all on how the wheel came to be, how it works or anything on how...More

A really interesting and artistic solution to an engineering problem - how to raise and lower boats from one canal to another with a vertical separation of tens of metres. I could have watched this device operating all day. Alas, we’re in Scotland, and there...More

Interesting to witness a boat being moved but not sure if a trip on the boat is worth the time & money. Park has a lot of other activities for families. Good park for walking. Small charge to park

There is definitely lots to do on site, and even if you don't fancy doing the boat trip again, it is amazing just to watch the wheel turn - we hope to see you back again soon!

Disappointing that in this day and age, there was NO option of alcohol free beers wines or ciders. We went on a hot day and didn't want a hot drink. Plenty of choice in wines and beers but obviously not suitable for drivers. For such...More

Sorry to hear that you were disappointed by your visit to The Falkirk Wheel, although we do not have non alcoholic beers and wines, we do have a large selection of soft drinks as an alternative to a hot drink, but thank you for the...More

Marvelous piece of engineering and fascinating to watch as it takes a canal boat to another level. Nice cafe and gift shop on site.

Remarkable piece of engineering. There is a cafe that seems to screen off the Falkirk wheel, which is bit of a shame. However, rest of it tastefully done. A 4 mile walk along the canal would get you to the Kelpies.More

Happy to hear you were impressed with the Wheel, as for the café, it is all glass on one side of the centre so that even in bad weather you can be indoors and enjoy watching the wheel movements. You can always have a walk...More

The train seems to leave Glasgow Queen St every 15 minutes for the Falkirk High station after 9am (maybe earlier). From Falkirk High, open google maps on your phone (worried about data? Buy a 15GB SIM from Wind on Sauchiehall St for a whole $20)...More
