I have to say after doing many a ghost tour in Edinburgh, this was bar far the best. The guy who took it Frank really knows his stuff, and nothing is too much trouble for him to answer. The event/tour lasted over 3 hours for us and at £5.00 was a bragin. Other tours in Edinburgh are around £10.00 and... More

Went on this tour with 3 friends on a Groupon deal and could not recommend it enough! The tour guide made it. Really entertaining and so knowledgable about Scottish history, answering every question we threw at him....and 3 of us are from Edinburgh. Give this tour a go if you've got an afternoon to kill!

We all had a fab time and are just sorry we were late! Franks knowledge of Edinburgh 's history is just amazing and we loved hearing the stories he has stored in his encyclopedia of a brain and enjoyed trying to make contact with the spirits and learning the process of how too. Definitely something we would do again!!

Easily one of the best ghost tours in Edinburgh - trust me, I've been on couple. Our tour guide Frank was extremely knowledgeable, a guy you could listen to for hours. Learned a lot about history, loads of interesting stuff and had a chance to use equipment used by paranormal investigators. Oh, I was also taking care of a haunted... More

I went on the paranormal ghost investigation with 3 children aged 12 and 13yrs (minimum age is 12yrs) which took place in Greyfriars graveyard The tour lasted 3hours and involved using various pieces of equipment to find ghosts in the area. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the residents there(!) and his enthusiasm made the tour... More

19.10.205 (1800 - 2100) - Had a lot of fun with our guide, Frank. Loved hearing the stories behind various historic murderous sites in the city. Suspect we may have picked up a ghost or two ourselves lol. Four satisfied kiwis who thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

We joined an evening tour to learn a bit more about Greyfriars graveyard and the dark side of Edinburgh and we did! We met at the graveyard with Frank and David, they are two professionals who explain you all the aspects that you want to know referring this tour (ghosts, tales, personal experiences...) After listening what happened there and hunting... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
