Captain's Bar has Scottish Folk music nightly in this historic and traditional bar in the old town. Close to the Royal Mile but a genuine Scottish bar where people appreciate talented musicians. Some nights are traditional singing - old folk songs and contemporary. Other nights are acoustic fiddle, guitar, flute and bagpipes. There are special folk sessions on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The bar sells coffee and has wifi and a book exchange. Small seated area and the rest is standing area.

Our second time in Edinburgh. Both trips we visited C.B several times. This time also on a wednesday; when they have "1 singer - 1song" by local folk-singers. Best night ever! Friendly staff and good local lager and ale. We'll be back!

First-class music, and by far the best of the Edinburgh free folk bars. Lovely atmosphere, friendly & helpful staff, perfect pints of ale and in my experience never too crowded. I have been on many occasions and was never disappointed. Congratulations to Ewan Wilkinson for...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the

Hi. It's a 10 minute walk from the Royal Mile. Go along South Bridge and turn right into South College Street. There it is. Sorry I took so long to reply. I didn't know about this facility till now. Have you visited yet?
