A fantastic experience for a hen party with a bride who loves to dance! The routine made her feel special, whilst being enjoyable for a group of people who love to dance (and others who don't). They let us choose the song, bring in props and made a fuss of the bride; it was perfect. The staff were lovely and... More

We very much enjoyed a variety of dance performances during the Festival. There was everything from a Maori troupe to a company of older dancers who performed a very moving WW1 piece. Good food in the cafe, too. We'll come again.

A lot of different classes to choose from. Nice place to learn dancing and enjoy the class ;) The teachers are experienced and expert in their domain. They are passion in dancing and teaching. Most importantly, they teach patiently. Enter any drop-in class and you will know it ;)

Managed to catch some shows at Dancebase during the Edinburgh Fringe 2012 and have to say it did not disappoint. The venue itself is very open with helpful staff on hand to give you some insight into what pieces they were showcasing and even give a little background to the dance companies performing that day. The actual theatre space was... More

Always a warm welcome, great staff - really know what they're talking about. Plus the best dance line up I've ever seen at the Fringe - this year was amazing - thank you so much for so many incredible shows!

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
