Great bar

Just moved into edinburgh recently and was taken here by one of my coworkers and I've been back a couple times already! The drinks are cheap and the venue is nice.

This place is an absolutely amazing rock bar. Downstairs is a quieter, laid back bar type setting with a great jukebox. The decor is great, manging to seem 'industrial' (the bar is made from railway sleepers) whilst also being a very nice place to be. It is quiet enough to speak to friends, there's a large selection of drinks and... More

This is a brilliant themed bar night club, Great music! Even if you just want to chill out and listen to their jukebox and have a few beers, great selection of tunes

I've lived near Edinburgh most of my life and being a bit of rocker have been in here plenty of times. Visited again recently, one night for a few drinks and another to see a band. Some of the reviews on here mention bad service, angry bouncers and sticky floors. Yes, I have been on the receiving end of all... More

Visited on a Sunday afternoon while quite quiet. We had a drink at this place and there isn't much more I can say as the place is simple. Rock music...

Visited on a Hen-do. We felt very relaxed and at home here, not too busy. Great tunes and a very friendly atmosphere. Upstairs was fab for a wee dance too- no fee to get in- bonus! This will be our new place to go when in Edinburgh- will definitely be back!

Was on a stroll around Edinburgh, bar hopping while on a mid week break with my partner and we happened upon this rock bar. Loved it!! Music was great, drinks were cheap we almost didn't continue on and came back the next night!

I mainly go there for 2 reasons. Cheap drinks and the awesome vibe. You will definitely get home drunk, happy, singing on some Tenacious D song and have a couple of new friends.

I originally entered this place gingerly due to reviews from people who didn't get what the bar was about but upon entering it for the first time it is now my frequent haunt and a great night out. The live shows they have are unbelievable, the bar staff are second to none and a great laugh, great drinks prices and... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
