Take a break from shopping and sightseeing and walk along the river in Dean path. You will feel miles away from the city.

Dean Village is a peaceful village situated on the banks of of Leith River. It was founded in the 12th century by the monks of Holyrood Abbey. Today it is an exclusive place.

starting in Dean Village and walked through to Stockbridge for dinner, very relaxing, varied evening stroll, although the broken bottles/cans at St.Bernard's well was disappointing when you peeked inside the structure.

I had been to the Modern Art Gallery Two and wandered down the road to find a pathway along the Water of Leith closed due to a landslide, so I wandered off and saw a sign which said Dean village. Having no idea what this...More

Quiet, charming place, not so far from the city centre, and a nice path to walk on your way to the Botanic Garden

You can start the visit at many points along the Water of Leith and reach the Dean Village along the way. Old mill buildings, picturesque houses and wildlife along the Water of Leith make this a lovely walk.

Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling
a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s
small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s
first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s
most desirable, though many bohemian touches have
fallen away as its residents have matured and the area
has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but
mostly residents display refined tastes in basement
