We did the midday vaults tour today with Svend and it was great fun. Although we didn’t do the ghost tour, we will still told all the stories of the ghost sightings in the vaults as well as learning the history of them. Svend was...More

Svend was very funny, good stories and very interesting. We booked the 12pm tour and it was good, the price was cheap. Came to Edinburgh not knowing about the volts and came out learning a lot. Good ghost stories and murder stories. Would happily do...More

Don't bother. An expensive walk around the block. We took the graveyard and vaults tours and immediately knew it was a mistake. The guide Christel was late and struggled through the history of medievel Edinburgh mixing up dates and finishing most sentences with ' you...More

Tour guide Tuesday was knowledgeable and looked after us well. The tour was quite scary and may not be suitable for those with a nervous disposition! Reasonably priced and enjoyable in a scary sort of way.

Enjoyed hearing about the history of the vaults, am not normally claustrophobic but a combo of the ghost story type information and also the dark definitely had me feeling a bit freaked out! Tour guide was Euan, very knowledgeable and seemed to enjoy his job....More

My wife and I did the tour with Christel the other evening, and from about 2 minutes in, we knew it would not be on par with similar tours we've done in other cities. She's funny in a goofy/absent-minded/overly silly way that, for a "dark/haunted"...More

Guide was kind and knowledgeable enough, but there wasn’t enough material to make the tour interesting. It was icky, drippy, hot, and smelly. Couldn’t wait to get out of there.

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

I wouldn't recommend that anyone that has trouble with extremely uneven stairs go down under the city in the tunnels for this tour.

Apologies for the late reply, but to answer the question, all the tours tell of some ghostly goings on and you may well imagine that the underground and vaults are a low lit, atmospheric and spooky place... that might not be... More
