So we went on the Graveyard and Vaults tour, taken by the guide named Esther. We found her rather boring and more like a school teacher. She did not like people joking and talking over her, even if it was quietly. We thought there would...More

We decided to go on the Terror Tour on Monday. Brilliant fun, these vaults are by far the most active out of the 3 sets I visited whilst in Edinburgh this time. Tour guide was informative and knowledgeable and will certainly ask for her again....More

Me and my husband went on the 6pm ghost and torture tour. We met our group and guide Ewan on the royal mile and were then shown some sites before we entered the vaults. Ewan was brilliant, he was hilarious but also knew his stuff....More

I was a bit disappointed. The tour was more a list of "someone saw this" rather than a good ghost story. The vaults were creepy, damp and smelly, and certainly had a history of violence, but there was something missing that kept it from being...More

Good tour, Cheeky but knowledgeable guide (Ewan, watch for him on the X factor!) The Vaults were nice and creepy, as was the grave yard. I do wish it had been a longer tour.... the later in the evening the tour, the creepier it gets!!!

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

I wouldn't recommend that anyone that has trouble with extremely uneven stairs go down under the city in the tunnels for this tour.

Apologies for the late reply, but to answer the question, all the tours tell of some ghostly goings on and you may well imagine that the underground and vaults are a low lit, atmospheric and spooky place... that might not be... More
