This was the second stop on our trip. The tour is well worth the money. Would definitely recommend. So much history in this beautiful city. The tour is very educational regarding Scotland in the 1600's and life in the city at that time. You are walking through the only preserved 17th century street in the city of Edinburgh from that time. Unique experience.

Really interesting to see how most people actually lived, especially after having seen The Castle and Holyrood Palace. It was grim. A good reminder to not romanticize the past. Really good guide: articulate, engaging and very kind to me. When it became obvious I was tired, he arranged to have a chair brought in. What a good guy!

A fantastic experience which was both intriguing, educational and funny! Ben was our guide who led us through the warren of subterranean closes with flair and panache deserving of an eighteenth century poet. A great trip for the whole family, just be warned that there are lots of steps and no lifts.

One needs to do this tour to truly see the old town of Edinburgh. The tour does a great job of taking one back to 1600s Edinburgh and later years. Our tour guide, Ben, did a great job relating the history of the close. So glad we did this tour!

Having done several tours in Edinburgh including walking one, and the vaults, the real mary king close gave the best idea of what life would have been like in the old town. Matt was an informative and friendly guide and we really enjoyed the whole experience. Second time for one of us too. Definitely recommend

Sam was exceptional! If you can request one of his tours I highly recommend you do. He is very knowledgeable and is a great story teller. We were engaged the entire time. Well done, Sam! Many well wishes for your future! For those who might need to know- there is a lot of stair climbing and descending, as well as hill climbing/descending and being in cramped, stuffy quarters. I’m not normally one to mind, but the tour group was rather packed and not all the rooms fit the entire group at the same time, so make sure to take time at the end of each segment to see what you might have missed during the presentation. There are wonderful displays that are helpful to understand the experience.

It was very impressive to see the old streets and how people used to live! Amazing storytelling and very nice staff. Especially our Guide Matt. He clearly has a very good understanding of the history of Mary King's Close. Me and my friends especially liked all the morbid theories and stories about the black plague. Ps: his "lute" is also a very nice touch

Your staff was patient and helpful when we stopped to book our tour. On the tour I felt like I was transported to the 16th and 17th centuries when poor families lived and died in those dark, dank rooms of Mary Kings Close. It was an emotional experience for me to feel how they must have suffered during the plague.

We came up to Edinburgh for the weekend, this tour was well worth a visit, Beth who took us round on the tour was very engaging and knowledgeable, keeping it fun. She was fabulous and I’ll be highly recommending by this tour to others. Thank you 😊

What a tour!! Unbelievable history dating back to the 16th century and to see a house built in that era was hard to fathom. Beth was a fantastic guide who was both informative and funny making the tour go quite quickly. We had a 9 year old with us who was totally intrigued and is still asking questions today! You could not take photos inside which is refreshing and respectful as to not deteriorate any of the delicate drawings etc
