Welcome to the Jolly Judge public bar in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. Low beamed ceilings, warm fire and a tranquil atmosphere, this is Scottish hospitality at its best. Sample the wide range of malt whiskies, real ales and tempting bar...more

The pub itself was warm and inviting. The bar man was great at giving us recommendations and had an encyclopedic knowledge of the ciders, beers and whiskeys served. The cider they had in was delicious and well priced.

Friendly, inviting and feels like this is the place that the "locals hang out". There is a fire inside which was inviting on the cool windy day. Drinks are a plenty. service is awesome. Prices are city consistent.

This charming little pub offers a REAL fire in the grate, cask ciders, and local cast beers and a large selection of (very expensive) drams of whisky (which we didn't try, as we had things to do later that afternoon). Also, another major plus: no...More

We stopped into the Jolly Judge at the recommendation of our walking tour guide from earlier in the day. This pub was very small and packed! The fie in the fireplace was a welcome sight on this blustery day! After standing for just a bit...More

Stumbled across this hidden pub whilst walking down the Royal Mile. The staff were friendly and offered suggestions from the extensive gin selection. A cosy little pub with lots of character - would definitely visit again if I’m ever in Edinburgh again.

We stopped in at the Jolly Judge today for lunch. Soup and a toastie for a little over £5. Really nice toasty and a nice spicy bean soup. I've visited this place every time I go to Edinburgh and still love it

In the old town it is hard to find a place that is genuine. This is a great little pub with a good selection of proper non commercial cider and some real ale. It her plenty of whiskey, but not in a pretentious way. I...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

Unfortunately no, due to licencing laws no children are allowed inside the pub. They are welcome to join you in the outside seating area (above 5 years of age).
