Festival Theatre has a superb spacious modern foyer where you can have a pre theatre glass of wine , spirits or coffee. Plenty seats - if you go early. The only gripe was the theatre was very very warm! The person behind us fell asleep...More

I have to agree with other reviews- the theatre looks lovely and very grand but it's well past time that they replaced the seats! Soooo sore just 2/3 into the first act! Even the children in our group of 8 were complaining. And very pricey...More

Nice surprise. Modern front from 1980's +/-. Theatre dates to 1800s. Beautiful inside. Two balconies. Well organized. Good sound quality. Saw Calendar Girls there and it was terrific all the way around. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.

Just returned from seeing this amazing production of Calender Girls. Beautiful performances from all cast members but Karen Dunbar was just priceless. Laughter tears all rolled into one - amazing. Standing ovation from audience - need I say more 😊

Such a beautiful venue and it’s so well run! The staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is great. Not a bad view from any of the seats!

First visit & was very impressed. Much bigger venue than I anticipated. Good facilities for pre theatre & intervals. The top levels are however quite high so not so good if suffer from heights. Good selection of restaurants nearby - Ciao Roma was very nice!

The mid-90s restoration of the Empire Theater made this into a world-class venue, while retaining the ambience of a great, late-19th century hall. We've been doing the Edinburgh International Festival for 25 years and always look forward to performances here. The acoustics are excellent and...More
