Visit to the parliament building was a complete waste of time. There is very limited access, basically just to the entrance gallery.

We were not sure which door to use to enter. Not the one with a handcuffed person escorted out by police. This is another example where you should not be afraid to ask a local for help. We entered the door which was indicated and...More

An appropriately grand and elegant building, given that it formerly housed the Scottish government before the union with England. What the visiting public can see is limited as it is now the seat of the Supreme Courts. One area that is allowed is the magnificent...More

We took this slight deviation to the left, whilst walking up the Royal Mile today to view the old 'Parliament House'. (Not to be confused with the new building which is at the very bottom of the Royal Mile). Although we didn't attempt to have...More

I saw this building, admired it's architecture, took a few snaps, but only realised what it was when I came to take a peek through TripAdvisor, nice on the eye, didn't seem like much going on when I was there, but then with its style...More

We wanted to see more but didn't have the time, so just went in and looked around a bit. The halls had nice historic paintings and it was worth just peeking in for a few minutes. We've heard the tour is well worth the visit---so...More

The Parliament Hall was recommended by an advocate friend from Glasgow. It is located just behind St. Giles Church and houses a small educational display of the Scottish Court system. The Hall itself is beautiful and with seeing.

We wanted to see what was going on and thought we would be able to see court in session. After going through security we were told we could not take photos. If I had known they had free tours, I would have gladly signed up...More

This is the Old Parliament Building, now the Supreme Court. We did not go on the tour, but went into the pretty old chamber. It did not take long and is a beautiful space.

We were much impressed by this gracious old building located in Parliament Square just off the Royal Mile. Having previously visited and been extremely disappointed by the new Scottish Parliament building, it was a pleasure to soak up the history and tradition associated with this...More

Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal

Security guards were very friendly and encouraged us to wander freely around.Informative boards inside explaining the importance of the history of Scotland's Parliament pre 1707 (not the pretend one down the hill).
