This is the first time my husband and I have taken a sight seeing guided tour and we weren't disappointed. The knowledge of our tour guide, in our case Donald, was incredible. It was an interactive 3D story book. I could have listened all day, in fact I did. The way the history was explained and tied in with the... More

When first hearing about this tour, I was super wary about its legitimacy, you know, being a "free" tour and all. However, upon first joining the tour group at the beginning of the day, I could tell it was going to be a great time. Our tour guide Paddy was super helpful, super entertaining and super knowledgeable on both the... More

We did the Loch Ness Tour. The schedules were extremely fulfilled. Our guide, Paddy, is extraordinary together with his Trendy Wendy! Super friendly and very willing. Always available informed us of everything and entertained whole of us. If you are considering which company to choose for a tour in Scotland, I highly recommend The Hairy Coo!!!! WE LOVED IT!

Excellent tour, fantastic scenery and a great way to see a little bit of Scotland. Our guide was very informative about every location we visited and had some really entertaining stories to tell along the way. If you're a little short of time this is a great way to spend the day, there's plenty of stops and photo opportunities and... More

My sister recommended the tour, and I am so glad I decided to go. Donald, our tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. This tour is a wonderful way to see so many points of interest in a short amount of time, and the feeding of the Highland Coos was amazing!! Highly recommended.

Our tour guide Don was excellent, very friendly and funny and gave a great history of the places visited. The locations visited were simply stunning! A perfect introduction to Scotland's landscape. Highly recommended if you're not already familiar with the highlands.

Clean comfortable bus; informative, funny commentary; great scenery; great stops with plenty of browsing time. This tour is not to be missed, will do the Loch Ness tour next time.

As a student with a limited budget, I am honestly very grateful to have found this tour. We saw very beautiful places while our guide Donald brought scottish history to life with his mesmerizing storytelling. The highlight of the day was definetely the hairy coos. I will recommend this tour to everyone, and I will join them again for sure.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
