Much to be learned history wise in this Ancient Cemetery . Undergoing restoration work. Gifted to Dundee by Mary Queen of Scots. Used as Meeting Place in the past by The Nine Trades. Join Dark Dundee Tours. You will be amazed. Highly recommended.

I always enjoy visiting graveyards; so much to be learnt from the information on the gravestones. As you enter there is an information board explaining its first beginnings. This place is only small, it is well laid out with so many stones, some of which...More

Lovely atmospheric oasis of calm right in the middle of the city. Well maintained, with benches to sit on. Interesting gravestones, great for a few photos.

No church, just a large area with some trees, many tombs and one mauseoleum. Looks to have been upgraded quite a bit with some interpretation boards and a call for help with recording all the memorial inscriptions. A nice place to walk through and very...More

Dappled shade, trees and flowers. This medieval cemetery in Dundee city centre is impressive. Elaborate old tomb stones. Still a howff today-meeting place- as it’s been for hundreds of years. Well worth a stroll.

I was instantly drawn to this beautiful graveyard right in the middle of a bustling vibrant part of town. So many passers by, going about their day next to this tranquil spot. Very picturesque with lovely planting and perennial flowers. Take a moment to pay...More

This is the perfect place for those suffering from depression. It's a calm haven in the centre of the city, quiet, hushed, oddly lovely. There is a park bench to rest and contemplate, some pathways thru the grave stones, shade under the trees, and enough...More

Great place in the heart of town to visit either for the historical interest of to chill and sit on a bench, although primarily an old graveyard the word ' Howff ' is old Scots for open space or open yard, the paths are well...More

Boom boom. I love this place. So many brilliant stories of tragic lives. makes you feel lucky to be alive now and not in 1856.

I have no idea, I suggest you approach Dundee City Council, who manage the cemetery, for guidance. Their offices are at Dundee House in Lindsay St.
