A must see attraction for both visitors to Dundee, and those of us who live in and around the city but don't know a lot about its industrial past. A great attraction telling the story of the Jute Heritage in Dundee, and also some of the cultural history. Very informative. Some former jute workers offer their own insights and stories... More

Award winning museum telling the story of jute and Dundee, and places them both in the world and in that time. Very interesting displays, things to touch and feel, instructive short films of the tasks at hand. You could easily spend a rainy day here! Small Café and shop at the site.

Visited this place when we were in Dundee in November 2016, the visit took a couple of hours with lots of information on the Jute trade and how it supported people in Dundee. The museum is well laid out and has a nice cafe for coffee and cakes. The staff were good and gave you bits of information about the... More

I have visited the Verdant works several times with visitors and grandchildren. Great history of how it was in Dundee my grandparents e both worked in the mills would be thrilled that their way of life has not been forgotten.

The Verdant Works (Jute Museum) should be a must see on your trip to Dundee. I was incredibly impressed with the museum, the factory, and the history. Even more impressed with the volunteers. The visit began with a walk through the museum with the history of the Jute Works, followed by a short video. Then on to the factory. I... More

Knowing that Dundee is Jam, Jute and Journalism my husband and I had to visit the Verdant Works during our break in the city. To begin with, the staff were a delight. Then into the Works. A good mix of authentic representation of mill staff, how jute was grown, videos of what the mill did, machinery and audio memories from... More

I took my 3 kids aged 15,13 and 11 around the large building and there was plenty to see with hands on displays and games, lots of machinery and fabulous interpretation boards. In its hey day Dundee had 51 mills and this factory is a fine working example. A lovely gentleman dressed in top and tails welcomed us which was really... More
