Even in the rain the castle is a great sight. To my mind the display of furniture and paintings leaves some way to go and tends to reflect the way elderly family members wanted things to be! The shops and cafe a shade dull. However...More

I have visited dozens of castles and stately homes all over the world, but something about this one on a sunny warm day was simply perfect! So nice just to wander around the beautiful gardens and look up at the castle raised so perfectly above.

I don't know how they can afford the time and labour but this beautiful castle has quite stunning grounds and park. Another fine example of South West Scotland's fine castles.

If you wish to park at the Castle then yes there is a facility charge of £6 per person. If you wish to access other parts of the Estate and enjoy our walks then there would be no charge. We hope that this helps.

Drumlanrig is about 4 miles north of Thornhill on the A76. There is a campsite at Penpont which is only 3 miles from the Castle. If there is any further information you require please let us know.
