Most interesting tour
Jun. 2021
We have had the pleasure of being given a tour of Neidpath Castle by its current owner, who was, of course, highy knowledgeable about the castle’s history and the people who used to dwell therein.

She thoroughly described every section of this mighty edifice, from the artfully-restored kitchen to the mummified rats, and I for one am highly satisfied with the experience. To my mind, Neidpath is to be recommended to all history aficionados.

Neidpath Castle overnight stay ❤
Oct. 2020 • Couples
Just back from our one night stay yesterday (Thursday 15th October) and wanted to let everyone know how amazing it was. We stayed in the Mary Queen of Scot chamber which is the accommodation within the castle itself.

....imagine having the whole Castle to yourself? Well thats what you get...you are handed the key to the front door and left to explore everywhere anytime that you want to ....and I mean anytime including in the wee small hours if you are brave enough (not us🤣). Our host Lulu gave us a brief intro explaining the facilities in the castle including tea, coffee, bread, breakfast stuff in the fridge etc. and left us to unpack, advising that our dinner would be served at 8pm by the private chefs of Chris and her husband Dougie...who were brilliant 👏 (this is extra @ £65 per head but can't recommend it enough if you don't want to cook yourself and you fancy splashing out if a special occassion...food and service was amazing).

We lit both the bedroom and lounge fires (everything supplied for you) then headed out in the cold for a walk around the grounds before returning to a cozy room. We locked the front door, climbed the staircase and opened a couple of bottles of wine that we took with us as they have no license and settled down for the dinner that we had pre ordered.

Later I decided to explore he colder parts of the castle on my own but promptly returned after bumping into a few bats in the upper tower. Over several floors the castle has a dungeon, ceremony room, kitchen, towers, attics, winding stone staircases that lead to different spooky areas that are all good fun to explore.

We did ask if the castle was haunted and although we were told it was, we both slept like a baby in the super comfy 4 poster bed and never heard a thing apart from the creaking floor boards when getting up for the toilet during the night 👀🤣

Amazing quirky old style accomodation that you can only dream of staying in so would definitely recommend and can't wait to go back one day.

Hope you enjoy as much as we did and massive thanks to our host Lulu and chefs Chris and Dougie 💙

Words can't describe how amazing!

We stayed at Neidpath Castle in Queen Mary's Chamber. My partner was over from USA visiting and I decided to book something special.
On arrival we were met and taken to the suite. We were shown the facilities available, given information so we could explore the castle on our own. Lulu settled us in and gave us a history of the castle. It was so interesting to find all this out and made us feel more excited for our stay. We were given the key and Lulu left us to explore on our own.
The castle is just simply stunning! The suite is beautifully furnished in a traditional style. The bedding is so comfortable and there are fires in the drawing room and bedroom that we lit and kept going. Extra heating was provided in the 2 rooms to keep it nice and cosy. I will attach some photos. Dinner was offered but we decided not to ans brought our own food. Its not advertised but there are kitchen facilities available if you need it... In the drawing room there is a pantry with fridge which was well stocked with our breakfast - smoked salmon, brie, oatcakes, fresh bread, yoghurt, cereals, fruit, chocolates, fudge, tea and coffee. We brought our own win. Plates, glasses all provided.
We spent such an amazing time exploring the castle at our leisure. I'm not going to say much about this as its best you experience this by yourself!!

Around the castle there are beautiful walks, town you can walk into in about 10 minutes if you want to do some shopping, go for a meal etc.

Please do not hesitate to book this. Its worth every single penny and its an experience that you will never forget!

I will definately be booking this again... Perhaps even 2 nights next time so we can enjoy this with even more time to explore.

An amazing experience all round. The suite was spotlessly clean, warm, cosy and Lulu was very welcoming. The tour is perfect, then she leaves you the whole castle to yourselves. Such a once-in-a-lifetime treat: do it!

Best thing we have ever done
Oct. 2019 • Couples
My husband and I were surprised by our friends with a night at the castle. We were greeted by Lulu who could not have been more lovely. She gave us some interesting history and a brief tour before leaving us for the night to explore and settle in. We had the most wonderful time. There was nothing more we could have wanted. This is an opportunity of a lifetime and well worth 5+ stars!!!!

Neidpath Castle Personal Tour
Jun. 2019
The wonderful lady who took us on this personal tour of Neidpath Castle was very pleasant and gave us a good understanding of the history of this castle. It was good to get an insight into the medieval past of the castle and how the castle was used for safety in times of war between England and scotland. It is also used as a Bed and Breakfast and for weddings.

Neidpath Cottage
Jul. 2019 • Couples
Just spent a fantastic five nights at Neidpath Castle Cottage and we cannot fault it. Beautiful accommodation all on one level, well equipped kitchen with all you need. The welcome hamper really made our stay. Lovely Highland Soap Company toiletries in both bathrooms. Fantastic views from every window and walks in all directions from the door.
We had a wonderful visit to the castle where you can now stay in Queen Mary’s chamber, if you want to stay in Peebles make sure you stay here. Flexible start days make it easy to squeeze a short break in. We will be back. Thanks to everyone for making our stay superb.

An unbeatable Venue for Our Wedding! Perfect in every way.
May 2019 • Friends
We just came back from our wedding which was held at Neidpath Castle. Lulu and her team were faultless and made sure everything went without a hitch, helping us plan and host the perfect day. Our guests LOVED the venue and enjoyed looking around the castle after dark. Perfect place for the dream Scottish wedding. The castle looked beautiful - all the fires and candles lit in the evening - and the layout and set up for the day worked so well. Cannot recommend highly enough for a large private event or wedding. Thank you Lulu and Team! x Helena & Michael

Interesting
Apr. 2019
I had thought the castle was inhabited and we'd be getting a tour from the owner Lulu, so whilst the tour was not what I had expected, our guide was well-informed and with a wealth of knowledge and personal experience of Neidpath's journey. It is not a lavishly furnished renovated building, but one which bears its scars and history for all to see. It was interesting to see first-hand how challenging it is to own a historic building which is a complete financial drain and takes everything to prevent it from falling into ruin. We had booked a private tour for a group of 5 but were joined by a group of 6 which did make it feel less personal. Neidpath is such an iconic building on the side of the Tweed and the views from the roof were spectacular.
