It used to be a coaching inn, then a hotel which closed in 1981 and eventually became a museum called the Borders Textile Powerhouse Museum and... More

I went to this a decade or so ago and I remember it having much more general history about the town and the tower. Now it's very much focused on the textile history of the town, so that did feel like a bit of a let down given as how I was expecting something different. There were some activities for... More

A quick visit - but worth calling in! At the end of the high street, it has some interesting galleries about the textile industry- some interactive sections will keep you amused. Worth dropping in.

Very interesting to see this free museum. Good info about the history about textile. Also nice to see is the changing exhibition. Take time to explore this museum. Not just on a rainy day !

Handily located at one end of the main drag and well worth checking out if in Hawick. Three floors of exhibitions and displays provide an excellent overview of the town and the key role played by the textile industry. Plenty of interactive stuff and interesting artefacts. And it's free! Doubles as the visitor information centre, whose staff are very friendly... More

A little museum of the local textile industry, quite interesting bits and pieces. I liked the way there were bits for children to join in like feeling the different types of wool and trying to knit and weave.

This used to be really good until it turned into a textile attraction, was really boring and kids weren't interested at all. When I went a few years back it was amazing with some scary parts for the kids. This is a waste of a building

A snapshot of the history of Hawick and district steeped in the story of Scotland. An excellent review of the rise of industry in the town and how it became the community with the largest export sales per head of population in the UK.
