St Columba obviously meets the needs of the a Catholic community in Oban and the islands but, that apart, the building lacks character. The man altar is impressive but the the grey granite is somewhat overpowering.

We attended Mass here. It's a lovely old Cathedral, but the best part is the priest. He was warm and kind and inspiring... the kind of person you would like to have as a friend.

Having visited many cathedrals, small and large, this one did not register as of any real interest. It is quite bare and has little to catch the imagination.

There’s quite a historical connection through the Scott architectural family. Giles Scott’s grandfather designed the St Pancras station building in London.

The interior is in some way quite bare in comparison to other RC churches, however this enhances the building rather than detracts from it. The altar decoration depicts St Columba, as you would expect, but it really is quite magnificent and beautifully carved.

This is a lovely. Catholic Cathedral that is simple and understated. It is a lovely walk along the port to the cathedral and it was extremely quiet which made for a great visit. The history of the cathedral is an interesting read at the back...More

Very interesting with wonderful views. Only a 10 Minuite walk from the ferry, but up hill. Friendly staff.

This 20th century cathedral is as peaceful as it is beautiful. They offer daily Mass at 10am. I attended a service and thoroughly enjoyed it. Seems like a lovely parish to be a part of.

Visited the cathedral on a recent visit to Oban. Made entirely from solid stone similar to St. Andrew's Episcopalian Church in Fort William. This is a Catholic church. Stunning building which can clearly be seen from the town centre and has great views from McCaig's...More

The vigil seems to be 6pm. Google the website weekdaymasses as it is handy for this type of info.
