I do not live in Forfar, but I was born in Angus's County Town. The Meffan Institute, which is now the town's only Museum and Art Gallery, is nonetheless a place I have always kept an eye on ... visiting it and giving time to the ever-changing exhibitions there is one of the joys of living so close. Apart from... More

Visited to see the new temporary exhibition. Amazing body of work. Very thought provoking and interesting. Rest of displays are very good although they are looking a bit dated and tired. Staff excellent and very friendly

It's a local wee museum- but well worth a visit - local culture. And historic artefacts - ever changing displays - a delightful museum and very friendly, helpful staff So if you have time .... get along to this place

Staff are always polite and helpful. The Pictish sculpted stones display is interesting. The re-created street scene brings a special historical atmosphere.

Great little local museum, free, with many fascinating artefacts, ranging from Pictish stones to the infamous witch trials of the area, all the way to local Forfar man Peter Reid and his world famous Rock, which made his fortune. I'd never heard of this world beater confection and neither had my wife who had lived in Forfar most of her... More

Went along to have a look around, there was supposed to be an exhibition on for the next week, I had seen it advertised but upon entering the upstairs rooms were closed and there were no exhibits to be seen downstairs. I was told to come back at the start of next month as things were being swapped around.

This is a very small, high quality attraction. The art exhibitions change regularly, so I try to pop in whenever I'm in town. My favourite was the statues gilded with sweetie wrappers! The museum exhibits are well displayed. I am so pleased my local taxes support this.

The displays & exhibitions are well put together there is a lot of Historical & local values in what is displayed along with suggestions of other places that are worth visiting I have found this timeless as they change the exibitions constantly & the staff there are very friendly & informative.
