The tolbooth museum covers a small piece of history but there are some interesting bits of insight. If you dont like very tight steep spiral staircases then this may not be for you. It makes you wonder how they got prisoners up them.

Combining the history and development of Aberdeen from the 1100s with the variety of crime and punishment through the ages. Set in original cells, with original doors you get a good sense of what it was like to be incarcerated there. Be wary of the...More

An interesting little museum with some very precarious stairs! Definitely worth a visit - as long as you are ok with narrow spiral stairs. Staff were very polite and helpful with some fascinating exhibits.

This is in a fairly central location and is well worth visiting. Some original jail rooms/cells. Fairly steep ,winding and narrow stairs so you need to be fairly active

Intriguing building which houses the old cells [ upstairs, unusually ] with history and exhibits to match. Very interesting and free admission

An old prison dating back to the 1600s' - doesn't take long but interesting. Avoid if you are claustrophobic and don't like steep old stairs.
