A great historical site in Aberdeen

This is a historic part of Aberdeen with many opportunities to explore the area which is very much an area in daily use by its residents.

After driving all the way from Perth just to see this I was hoping it would be worth it and it didn't disappoint a quaint wee hamlet right at the bottom of the harbour and next to the see.A wee community all out on its own set out in little courtyards and even its own little church. doesn't take long... Interesting place to walk. Public toilets and recycling centre available. Sand in the streets blown in from the lovely beach.

Wonderful to see how social history has remained relatively untouched in Aberdeen. The enterprising folks of Fittie have had the vision to keep this little part of Aberdeen as near to as it was in generations past. Aberdeen has lost quite a bit of its history and sites related to social history.

I walked here from the centre of town in about 15 minutes, including a glance at the harbour on the way and along the beach promenade afterwards. It is a fascinating area where little old cottages show their backs to the sea and no cars get in. I strolled up and down and tried to imagine when it would have... More

An enchanting little fishing village at 'the foot of the Dee'. Enjoy a walk along the beach towards Fittie, or catch a bus from Union Street. A 'must see' if you are in Aberdeen!

An excellent location for amateur and professional photographers. From architectural subjects to the nearby harbour and beach.

Picturesque and lovely for an afternoon walk. Village of cottages, some extended upwards, laid out in grid system around central square spaces edged with 'sheddies'. Notable for fact that this village was a 19thC replacement for, and thus a relocation of population old 'Fitty' - removed to make way for harbour development. Main point to note is that Footdee is... Such a lovely little area of Aberdeen. Filled with lots of small cottages that are decorated in their own unique way. It didn't even feel like we were in Aberdeen. Lovely walk.
