Walking the entire city wall is a walk through time. It requires some climbing, but the entire wall can be walked in an hour or two. The views from the wall are very nice. Inside the wall, there are many places for shopping and dining.

on the way back from Grianan Aliigh we stopped and walked Derry's walls after gazing up from the Bogside. these walls are steeped in history and it's brilliant that you can now walk the whole way round

We visited Derry with our small grandchildren and they enjoyed seeing and climbing on the canons. The walk around the walls is interesting and takes about an hour at leisure. Reasonably safe for children although toddlers are a bit unsteady climbing on the canons.

Walking around the walls, we saw where the 'troubles' occurred and the houses that were spectacularly painted with murals of the IRA. We also saw the city in its splendour.

This is a must do in Londonderry. Take a guided tour. There is a yellow poster outside the shopping complex. The tour leaves from here. We had a gentleman tour guide who was brilliant. Fluid in his information and the ability to walk and talk while going backwards 🙂 our guide gave a thorough tour and injected some humour at... More

Walking along the Walls of Derry is truly an amazing experience. This is a city that is steeped in history, both old and of a more recent vintage. Standing on these ancient walls you get a great view over different parts of the city, including the Bogside. The walls are a really well preserved monument to the early battles of... More

Did a walking tour with Martin McCrossan's City Tours and I'd highly recommend it - great guide who told the history of Derry and the City Walls and murals with great knowledge, enthusiasm and wit. Fabulous views of the City along the tour and finishing with a cuppa in a local coffee shop. Great value for money (£4!) and customer... More

Walking over the walls gives a nice impression of the lay out of Derry. You have a great view of the different city parts and gives you a good inside in the history of the city. A must see in Derry.
