Moving to walk the streets of such a significant historical and violent spot. Made me more interested in understanding the events that led up to what happened here.

I was so glad to see this bit of history out in the open. I was not sure what to expect so it was a pleasant surprise to see that Derry is embracing their history.

Derry (Londonderry) has had a troubled past, and this memorial is an important reminder of the problems they have had to deal with. It is simple, but moving. The murals have become a real art form.

So much history in this city, this is a must see attraction along with walking and looking at the murals and a visit to the Free Derry Museum.

Should we forget! This happened in my lifetime and it is a reminder to us all about history. It symbolises bravery and wanting to do the right thing. So important for all of us to understand so that this cannot happen again.

Political memorial commemorating the deaths of unarmed civil rights protesters at the hands of the British Army. Shame....

Like Concord Bridge or other sites where a rebellion was sparked, this memorial marks the beginnings of The Troubles, a period of international and internal conflict that is, hopefully, ending.

I remember some news reports on TV of this event in 1972 when I was a child. If you are going to walk the murals, stop here and see the memorial. There is a descriptive plaque to read in case you're not familiar with what...More
