Stunning waterway

Stunning waterway just before downpatrick perfect in the summer for a picnic with tables available to sit on and a great stop in the winter for a coffee if out on the bike.

Was just passing by today, not a bad place for a quick jog or a walk, I noticed signs for dogs on lead, no guns or boats but maybe not a bad place for bird watching saw a grey heron, a wren, 5 mallards and a couple of swans in 3mins

There are stunning views from the Castle Island hide. With the Mountains of Mourne as a backdrop, the views are almost coincidental - but that is not the case, there are many species to be seen here.

I visit the Quoile regularly as it's a great place to walk the dog. You might manage to catch the swans in flight as they skim along the water but they aren't exactly on a schedule... Regardless it's a great walk. If it's been raining before you go then bring sensible footwear. If there's been several days of rain then... More

lovely for a quiet walk along the river. Plenty of wildlife duck swans. Great scenery along the river there is even a part of the game of thrones filmed here and the left the prop for anglers and if you look at the picture you can see how it looked in the film. Great to get away from the stress... More

The Quoile is a beautiful lake side walk - incredibly peaceful with amazing views. Swans, ducks and dog walkers will join you otherwise this is a great place to get away from it all.

Visited here as part of a game of thrones tour and was fascinated by a) how they used CGI to make it look as it did on TV, but b) how calm and peaceful the water is. Plenty of places to walk around and relax in nice weather.

Lovely wetlands with swans, ducks, bird life. Path along the waterside with willow bending over rippling water. Natural planting, and game of thrones place too - they left a little pier out into the water-feed swans and seagulls here. Peaceful, safe, many families come with children to feed the ducks, others come to walk, and others just to sit and... More

We came across this attractive, quite by accident, after we took a different route to get to Strangford. I was well aware of the RIver Quoile, but had no idea swans gathered here in flocks. On the sunny September day we visited, a local dog walker told us the number we were seeing was actually below the usual quota. I'll... More
