Castle Ward will take you on a journey of discovery. The 18th-century eccentric house with two distinctly different styles, classical and Gothic, will entice you to explore further. This truly beautiful 332-hectare (820-acre) walled demesne, with walking trails, exotic garden, stunning vistas and picturesque farmyard, will unlock your imagination through family history, leisure pursuits, events and industrial heritage. A children's pastimes centre and laundry room are a short walk from the house in the stableyard, alongside a gift shop, second-hand bookshop and tea-room.

The house only had the ground floor open as there were not enough volunteers on duty. This information was not on the website so I was pretty annoyed to pay the full entry fee as it was only 4 rooms - however as they have...More

Lovely country park with some beautiful walks. Really enjoyed the tour. Barbara our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining, and even kept the attention of the children. No mean feat with teenagers! We didn't sign up for the game of thrones tour but it was...More

I visited in August, so can't comment about December crowds, but I can say that we took plenty of pictures within the house. I'm sure you could get someone to take a quick family picture, but I don't know if you'd be able... More
