Well worth a visit to see the brilliant Leonardo di Vinci sketches and the cafe is first class. Apart from that the rest of the museum has changed little since the refurb - excellent for local pottery if you like that sort of thing but very few paintings on show (not really an art gallery??). Trying to be a bit... More

I had looked forward to my first visit to the Glynn Vivian gallery, especially as I had heard about their major refurbishment. The display about Glynn Vivian himself was most informative and his collections of porcelain and painted fans are impressive but I was hoping to see more of his collection of art. Where are the paintings by Monet, Gainsborough,... More

Never heard of Richard Glynn Vivian (1835-1910)? If you're heading to Swansea in Wales, don't miss this spacious gallery. It displays Vivian's enormous and disparate collection of art objects. Like the Wallace Collection in London, this is a highly personal and therefore personally revealing show of acquistions. It includes works by old masters as well as an international collection of... Went to the Glynn Vivian just to see what it was like after the reopening. Some nice pieces of art I. There but not as much as I had hoped for- the space it occupies seems empty when you look and see just 3 or 4 items in a larger room. Spent about 1/2 hour there and that was all.... More

The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery was re-opened last Saturday 15th October after a multi-million pound refurbishment (which seemed to take forever). We had been away so our first opportunity to visit was yesterday, 20th October. We were really impressed and it was very busy. The main current exhibition is based on the travels of Glynn Vivian who amassed an enormous... More

Great space for art to be displayed. Good big windows to allow lots of light. Not sure if there are a few teething problems. lack of signage for the exhibitions and simple stuff like stickers on doors saying 'PULL" Felt like it needed a bit more art in sculptures and paintings and hopefully in the future there will be more... Attended the newly re-opened Glynn Vivian Art Gallery today. The building is very impressive and such a good space for displaying Art. A great central stairwell and plenty of individual side rooms. Covering 4 floors with lifts and modern facilities. The cafe and shop are both next to the entrance. The art collection is varied and interesting, something for everyone... More
