My ten year old daughter is usually hard to please but described it as 'the best bridge I've ever been on'. High praise! She now wants to come back and walk over it after watching someone else do it today.

This stunning piece of historically significant, active and working architecture is a "must-see" if you are in the Newport area of South Wales. Historically this is one of three surviving transporter bridges in the UK, the only other working bridge is in Middlesbrough. The third...More

Great value at only £3 to climb to the top and cross over, return on foot in the gondola and finally take the car to the other side. Even on a murky day it was quite a thrill. Hope to return when the weather is...More

If you are in South Wales you must visit Newport's Transporter Bridge, one of a few working examples in the world. If you are feeling brave there is a walkway over the top of the structure too.

Visited today with my 2 daughters aged 15 and 11, and my parents. The girls walked across the top with their Grampy, and me and nan took the gondola. They really enjoyed the challenge as it was so high.

We took our grandchildren for a day out. We had the day tickets £3 each. Did not brave the walk over the top with 3 children aged 2, 4 and 6. Maybe when they are older. We had 3 round trips which the children loved...More

I visited just to have a look but was persuaded to walk over the top gantry and come back on the moving roadway when chatting to the very friendly staff. Can't say I enjoyed the climb and walk as I am terrified of heights. There...More

It is about a half hour walk at the most. There is a taxi office at the train station and they will take you straight there for around £5.00. You don't need transport to use the bridge as there is seating on the gondola... More
