Have visited barrage for a stroll many times. Enjoy watching the bridge open to allow vessels into the sea. Only just discovered coffee shop run by RSPB which is very welcome on a cold day.

We loved the walk from Mermaid Quay over to Penarth (and we loved the chance to return by ferry). I suspect it would be a bracing walk on a less lovely day - but probably great in all weather conditions.

We took a boat trip around Cardiff bay and we were very pleased we did, they did a very interesting talk about the history of the barrage and the docks, it was a good 45 minutes trip.
