Description:

This superbly restored gentry manor house is no ordinary heritage...

This superbly restored gentry manor house is no ordinary heritage attraction. History here is tangible. The costumed servants of the house are living and working in 1645 and allow you to share and engage in their world. Fires crackle, candles flicker and the sounds and smells of domestic life make your visit a memorable experience of the past. It takes a moment to attune your ear to the unfamiliar speech within the Manor itself, but within seconds of your warm welcome you become immersed in the time of the Civil Wars and the cares and concerns of ordinary people living in extraordinary times.

We spent an enjoyable couple of hours here, and would recommend it to anybody interested in history (especially the English Civil War period) or something different. A casual visitor could see the moderately sized manor house in a few minutes, but the guides, who are more like actors, skilfully bring the place to life. They really get into their roles... More

We visited here on Saturday and the cost was £8 per person. The tour with the 3 staff members took approximately 1 hour. It was quite enjoyable after feeling slightly strange at the beginning as we were not expecting them to be completely "in character". It was a very informative place to visit. Our only suggestion is to reduce the... More

I called agead of time and was advised that ghosts would be "categorically guaranteed". There were none. Nothing at all. We looked everywhere for them...nope. nowhere to be found. We went into the house and this fellow greeted us with "goodly" this and "goodly" that. Said his name was llewellyn or something. I thought he might be the ghost because... More

It is not since my childhood had I ever been told such wonderful story's, from Giants to Lovers, Revenge and Magic. Tamar Eluned Williams Award winning storyteller performed in the conservatory at the Manor, the room was lit with candle light which transported you in to a mystical time and place. Everyone was mesmerised by her enchanting singing, story's spoken... More

What a wonderful experience, for the youngest (8) and oldest (74) in our group!! We experienced life back in the 1600's for a few hours! This included sitting in court and helping to decide the outcome of the defendant! :) The servants were all so very knowledgeable and it was lovely hearing them talk the 'olde' way (it was very... I went here with my parents (there were 3 of us, all adults). The in-character staff are fantastic. They spoke in old-style language, answering all our questions, and telling us all the stories of the place in true 1645 fashion. We felt welcome all the way through to them waving us off at the end of our visit. The house... More

If you love history then this is the place to visit! The Manor House itself and the gardens are beautiful. The tour guides are brilliant, dressed in the clothing from the 1600's and even speak as if they live in that period. How they keep that up amazes me! I went to visit with my mother and we decided to... More

Although Llancaiach Fawr was quite an interesting place to visit it does seem a bit light on actual things to do for the £23 it cost two adults and a child to enter. The staff in character is entertaining for the children and they are clearly good at what they do, but, The house can be seen in about 15... More

Very interesting place to visit for both adults and children. It has beautiful gardens and a gift shop and coffee shop. Plenty of space for children to learn and plenty of grounds to run around . Well worth a visit.
