Definitely an underrated 'attraction'. The sand dunes and area around them is so huge you could easily spend a full day out there. Climbing to the top on the sand dunes is definitely -very- physically demanding, but there are various other paths and walks around...More

Stunning place to let your dogs burn off their energy. We have 2 Beagles who need to burn lots if energy and this is the perfect place.

No just kiddin. It is a bit of a climb up the dune. Probably a bit more suited to those younger and fitter than I. But really good to visit and so unexpected in the lanes and hedges to come to this "desert sand dune"....More

these are great dunes to spend hours walking through, reaching the open water. Village of Merthyr Mawr is very quaint and pretty with thatched cottages and a swinging bridge. Beautiful place to spend a day.

The dunes are great for running on and walking dogs, most people are friendly and say hello as you pass. Parking is cheap and the beach is just a 30 minute walk away. Amazing .

Was just wondering if it gets busy in the week days? Looking for more places to go out walking near Cardiff but not a big fan of busy places

No not really. There's a car park that's mainly busy on weekends. Whenever you go because there's so many routes you can walk you very rarely see many people.
Id like to take a school group here - is there enough room in the car park to drop off from a coach?
